Dd is fully toilet trained out of school she doesn't have a single toilet accident. During the past two school holiday I have noticed that she has not had a toilet ing accident at all. However every day she attends school she wets herself. Any ideas why?

Is she frightened of the hand dryers?

Not able to tell anyone she needs to go?

Doesnt like the smell?

Needs reminding?

Waits too long and doesnt get there in time?

Endless possiblities, those are just a few.

Forgot an important one.

Not transferring the skill from home to school yet.

Because of the age group that I work with 2-4yrs. Toilet training is a part of daily life for me.

Nearly all the children I work with both with and without SN's need regular reminders and lots of support when they are getting to grips with toileting away from home.

None of them ever move to independence over night and some have accidents for much longer than others.

The only sure fire way to support them is with adult intervention and consistent toileting routines.

I think I would be having a word with the staff at school.

Good luck Smile

I have heard- regarding ASD- that when a child learns a skill at home, for example, they find it hard to transition these skills i.e. nursery, outings etc. So that could be the reason why, but I'm not too familiar with it.
