My DS is nine. He has a dx of high functioning ASD. It's all just gone wrong and I don't know what to do ...

He's at a mainstream school that is very high achieving. He's in year 4. Up until the end of year 2 he was doing fine. Now he's been spilt from all his friends, put under immense pressure over homework and he's struggling to cope. He's going into school most days in tears, he's a nervous wreck at home. When I've gone into school to complain they ask him if there's a problem and he's too scared to say yes s he's says it's fine!! Then they just ask me if I'm struggling, perhaps I need extra support???

I couldn't even get him into school last week, practically had to drag him in. He's doing fine academically but so what?? I'm so concerned about his anxiety issues. School say he's putting it on!! FFS!! I've got a statement review this afternoon. I know they won't give an inch. Should I take him out? I need some moral support :(

Can't offer any pearls of wisdom only support. In the same boat planning meeting today to say why my DS does not need a statement. Academically doing okay although his reading level 2B is same as end of year 1, he is presently end of year 3. So 2 years in mainstream no progress how can anyone say that's a decent education!

Socially he struggles and playtimes are a huge issue, he's very vulnerable at school yet I'm not listened to. It's getting harder and harder to get him in and he's getting really down and stressed about it all. Have thought about home schooling don't think I'm up to it!

All I can suggest is keep standing up for his best interests and his rights cause he can't do it for himself
