Headsprout

Yesterday, Moondog was saying how brilliant Headsprout is.

I did start Headsprout with DD2 a couple of years ago, but then it was $33 per month for 6 months ($198 total) and each extra child was $100.

Now, it's $99.95 for a 'class' license, which can register up to 36 pupils. So just £60 for all 3 of my children, which is really good value!

Actually, Obstacles if you download Puffin Web Browser Free on the IPad, that has Flash, so you can use Headsprout on it. It's a little clunky at times, but it works just fine.

Omg. Off to try that right now!

By Jove it works. I've created student profiles and played with the first lesson. Thanks lougle. Thanks Cake Wine. I was seriously considering shelling out on a windows surface so you have saved me ££££

quick question, is head sprout more for the mechanics of reading (which ds can do ok) or for undestanding/comprehension?

Sorry I did ask this on anohter thread and now I can't bloody find it again Blush, so sorry if you have already answered this...

Thank you lougle, I was hoping to buy head sprout for dd but had the same concern that she wouldnt be able to use the mouse. She is fab on the iPad though so that's perfect! I know another mumsnetter on the moondog day had the same concern so I hope she sees this (I'm not sure what her name was but she saw 'lovely colleague' the same time as me about reading with a non verbal child)

Headsprout Early Reading -learning to read (ie mechanics of decoding, but tonnes on instructional control, speech, language comprehension, following a story, lots of paper based fun stuff too)

Headsprout Reading Comprehension-reading to learn. Find the fact/Clue Words/Inference and so on. Paper based stuff too.

User the downloadable maps to mark progress.

lougle · 18/06/2014 20:34

sign, there's headsprout early reading which is the mechanics, then headsprout reading comprehension. You can buy the reading comprehension as a standalone. It's $99.95 (£58).

oh, that is brilliant news, lougle. I was all set to get dd2 ino the rhythm of using the main PC, but if she can do it from her iPad then all the better.

Thanks again.

I downloaded the paid version of puffin not the free one as the reviews advised it didn't work as well. The paid verion was about £3.
