Hi dd1 has been referred back to ENT for ear trouble (prev had grommets). She has adhd. I have concerns that she has auditory processing issues. Is there some sort of hearing test that the nhs can do to test for it? Want to know what to ask for at ent

Hi Pootrouble,

Auditory Processing Disorders are not a hearing deficit, they are a listening disability, or the brain having problems processing what the ears hear.
Currently most ENTof the NHS are not adequately qualified to assess and or diagnose Auditory Processing Disorders. You will require a GP referral to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
There is more in formation regarding APD on the APDUK website including the new APD and Teenagers web page

Not sure if this helps but when I spoke to one of the consultants that does both private and NHS APD testing he said that the child needs to be around 7 to have full APD testing.

I think GOSH require referral from another consultant rather than GP.
