Question about Alton Towers fast pass (or whatever it's called)??

Do you call them and beg?

I'd like to take ds in August but he's hypermobile and has flat feet so queuing will be a huge problem for him as he's unable to stand for longer than a few minutes without pain. My sister has said they can do a fast pass so he can avoid the queues but it's not clear on the web site whether he'd be eligible. He gets DLA but not the mobility (as they didn't think finding walking painful and falling into the road was severe enough to qualify for it Hmm). Has anyone managed to get one?

Thank you Smile

You could try getting a letter from your GP which says your Ds cant queue due to his medical condition.

They have tightened up recently and dont accept DLA letters as evidence of not being able to queue anymore.

I'll ask, it's a new GP who hasn't seen him at all yet though but they should have all of his notes Sad

Would he be allowed to use a camping chair in the queue? One of those small triangle shaped ones? I could leave it at the side when he goes onto a ride. It helps if he can sit down.

Yes I would think a small folding chair would be fine you could just leave it with your bags when you go on the ride.

You ought to ring them and ask what disabilities they have on their list. They must have some way of deciding who gets and exit pass and who doesnt.

Dd3 has Asd and she gets one we take her diagnosis letter. My friends little girl has a letter from her paediatrician.

I would ring them Smile

Smile Will do, thank you. I've had a look on their web site and it doesn't go into specifics. He doesn't need a wheelchair, he just can't stand or walk for very long before the pain starts. The paediatrician and the physio were pretty useless and the OT has discharged him (and she doesn't deal with feet or balance).

I'll give them a call, thank you Smile Thanks

The Alton Towers disability access guide is here

The Merlin group changed the exit pass criteria a couple of years back, and it mostly focuses on 'those who don't understand the concept of queuing'.

I would give them a call anyway - you never know!

I've seen that one, it doesn't mention a great deal other than wheelchair users and children who 'don't understand the concept of queuing' (which should also apply to some adults)/

Thank you, I'll give them a call. It's cruel to take him somewhere knowing it would cause him pain, but I don't want him to miss out. ARGH! Sad

They give them out like smarties at Alton Towers. They are easy to get hold of. I just showed them DS's diagnosis letter, tbh they barely looked at it. Just take a letter from your GP and you will be fine.
Loads of people had them when i went.
