Hello, I would be grateful for some advice regarding my 5 year old ds' speech.

Ds has HFA. Salt saw him around a year ago, they did not do very much and were quick to sign him off after school convinced them everything was fine.

I am wondering if I should try to get salt involved again. Ds is not pronouncing words correctly. Some examples are

other = uler
the = le
volcano = picano
drum = jrum
train = chrain

He often thinks I have said something different from what I have actually said. This evening he heard "handy" as angry.

He gets angry a lot when we are having conversations outside. If I say " look there is a cat". He will cry, stamp his feet and say " I was going to say that". So I have to pretend I have not seen the cat and ds then says "look there is a cat". He will not let me speak to other parents in the playground at school.

Do you think any of these things would be a good reason to try get advice from salt. Or are they normal for a 5.7 year old?

Also, if you have any advice on books I could read about autism and language that would be great.

thank you.
