I have read with great interest the ongoing comments regarding northease school in Lewes. My son has aspergers and possible discalculia. We had seriously considered northease as a possible place for him after he finishes at primary. He is currently at a mainstream primary school in East Sussex and in year five. We have recently had a private educational assessment and she has stated that he would not be able to manage at the mainstream secondary school choices due to the size, noise, transistion between classes. He is above average in English and quite academic but finds it very hard to concentrate in a large classroom and gets leasily distracted with the noise. I was wondering if anybody knows of any schools within the East Sussex area. We know of frewen but it is getting very difficult to get in there. Does anybody know of headstart school which is in ninfield East Sussex. It is very hard when there seems to be so little choice. My sons main difficulty is with environment and is much more focused in a small environment. Please if anybody can offer any suggestions.

I would urge you to make your own mind up about Northease, its an amazing school, and the negative comments do not correspond with ours, and many others experience. Our child has thrived here, is cared for and supported in every way.

Our son has complex needs, but these have been taken on board, learnt about and understood. Staff even came to meet his Consultants at GOSH, above and beyond anything we could have wished for. He is cared for holistically not just educationally.

Even with a Statement it will be a battle to get your child a place in an ISS, and I understand how imperative it is to get this right.
I Home Educated due to the horrific way our child was treated in an East Sussex mainstream school - and would have no hesitation in doing so again - but have no need now. Our child has had his life turned around at Northease, and we couldn't be happier.

Thank you so much anameescapesme for your thoughts. I have considered home educating and that is a possibility. I am going to see linfield school in eastbourne next week and know of one parent whose child goes there and they have been very happy. We are going to see northease and see what they are able to offer with an open mind.
