Hi, Can anyone tell me how much the fees are per term please? How do you go about getting LA to supplement fees/do they pay fully?
Thanks for any information.

Maybe ask the school directly for the fees?

Yes of course, will contact directly - just thought if anyone had any info /experience on additional LA funding for PL, trying to get insight into it all. Thanks though.

Hi, We recently were referred to Priory Lodge although our preferred choice was the nearer Unsted Park. We queried with the Priory group the difference in fees and we were told that Priory Lodge was about £40,000 per annum. However I would think that it depends on the package a child needs. More intervention - more money.
Hope that helps

Wow! As I said initial research for me , early days. Guessing PL for severe Autism/AS etc ? Local Authorities wouldn't cover much would they? How can one afford £40k PA without additional help? Need to now investigate with Richmond but have a feeling my son's Statement not needy enough. Looks like a great set up though and good teacher ratio. Any tips, let me know. Thanks!

Hi, My son's school is more than that an annum but the school only take funding from a LEA so no private funding. Not sure if that's the same for Priory Lodge. We didn't look at it as too long a drive on the A3. My son is fairly high functioning and had a failed placement at a LEA Unit attached to a mainstream school. Usual thing of not enough experience in autism and little intervention of SALT and OT. We got an advocate on board to help us prove the school was failing him. Aswell as proving the lea placement was failing we also had to prove that no lea placement would be able to meet his needs. My son has asd, add, hypermobility and sensory processing difficulties and is quite complex.

My son goes to an indie special school, his fees are 41k per year plus transport. All funded through the LEA as they could not provide a placement to meet his needs.
40k isn't that much, most indie special schools where i live cost at least 50k and i'm in the north where everything is a bit cheaper.

Most indie special school places are paid for by the LA for a child with a statement. DS1's Indie SS fees will be well over £50K (also up north) and I know of schools (mostly down south) where they're double that.

What's an indie school?

Oh wow! £40-50k, I was shocked when the special school that DS wanted to go to was £30k

adrianna22 · 20/05/2014 21:23

Just realised. Indie means independent school. HA Smile.

Have a look at some of the specialist residential schools if you're shocked at £40K. Fees well over £100K there.
