Awaiting results of sons ados test but told unofficially unlikely will get diagnosis.
This is 2 nd ados test and son does have problems but as he is good in school I'm made to feel like I want a diagnosis if not there. He has long time issues with sleep and obsessions and being in control.

Anyway that's the background but yesterday my son came in from the garden upset as he felt someone was watching him, I said where and he said in the garden and in the kitchen he felt that cereal boxes and ketchup bottles with writing on were looking at him ,
and the writing on them were jumping out at him. He said he felt everything was pointing at him and there might be a camera somewhere spying on him.

Now I might have thought he was playing but he looked upset and his eyes were darting back and forth as if he was looking at the room at objects and it took me awhile to calm him down.,

Now this doesn't seem right for a 7 year old boy to say , can anyone give any thoughts as it's heartbreaking to watch my don go through things but professionals tell me he us ' normal'

I can't really help but no that definitely doesn't sound right to me at all.

I don't understand the whole ados testing stuff. Is he under children's mental health team at all or are they not even acknowledging that there is any problem?

PERSONALLY I think I would take him to the Drs and demand he is seen asap by children's mental health as he is suffering from paranoia. he (and you) need help and support.

Not normal.
Might not be as scary as it sounds but definitely unusual

If you ring the GP now, the out of hours will give you advice how to handle it & send the doc a fax ready for morning.

Then when you go for appointment, you won't waste ages going through details you might have forgotten.

Doc will want to rule out physical cause and new mental illness as well as work out if there's any link with the Asd.

Have you checked him for scotopic sensitivity (also called visual stress) which is a visual processing issue. It can really make the world looks odd sometimes. You can do that at your local optometrist (I would go to a proper one not high street brand and cost £60).What makes me thing of it is the "writing where jumping out of them"? Does he complain of headaches or words moving on the page when he reads, blots of light/colours on a white page?

Thank you everyone I question everything I feel now as I'm made to feel I'm seeing things which aren't there but I knew this wasn't right, I will be booking a dr s appointment and Molly weasley thank you for that suggestion he does have very poor vision anyway and I have never heard of visual stress before but will look in to that so thanks
