I have posted a few times about Ds not answering to his name and not being able to break his concentration.
I know I probably won't be able to het a diagnosis just yet but I don't want to wait 12 months to have him assesed as I know early diagnosis is key and ABA can really help.
I really am convinced Ds has autism, call it a mother's instinct but I just feel like I already know. I could list all the things he does/doesn't do but I feel like I can already tell that somethings going on.
If I had a private assessment would I be seen quicker/taken seriously at this age?

11 months is too young to get an ASD diagnosis. As others have said before, keep diaries, video if you can, try do some early intervention techniques yourself to help.

The youngest child I know was 20 months old. And that was nhs.

My ds2 was dxed at 2.6 after 6 months of tests. From him being days old I knew there was something different about him. From 9 months I begged and pleaded for a referral but was always told to wait until he was 2 and to stop comparing him with his older brother. In comparrison, ds1 was walking at 9 months, ds2 couldn't sit unsupported at this age. He had food issues from the word go, textures etc, would finger feed himself until he was 16 months, never cried as a baby unless being bathed. Lots and lots of indicators, but always ignored. At his 2 year check the HV who did it was not my usual one and she referred him straight away.

lougle · 15/05/2014 21:17

There were queries over dd1 on day 1 (midwife thought she looked like she had downs syndrome) first weeks (screamed all night every night) first months (babble formation), 8 months, 15 months, 17 months and 20 months. All dismissed.

It was only at 2.9 that I was taken seriously because she was having seizures Hmm

You probably do know, but right now you can help him by being on the ball and loving him.

lougle · 15/05/2014 21:19

She's not got ASD, by, but does have SN.

I think that all quotes of posts that do delete talk guidelines are deleted, too, so none pf it stands.

Mine were diagnosed young. First at 3.5 and second received diagnosis at 29 months (ish, had a sleep since then). Even if all the red flag research produces a distinct presentation which would prompt a just in case early intervention program, it's not going to make definiteive diagnosis possible until the missing skills are age (in)appropriate.

As your concerned try and get ds referred to a child development centre , they are multi disciplinary centres and are really good
