Posted in behaviour/development but thought I may get some perspective from parents of children with asd.
My only worries at the moment are that Ds doesn't respond to his name at all.
He's happy, interactive, claps his hand, ways and points his finger, pretends to talk on my phone (or puts it to his ear at least)
He has good eye contact and smiles a lot, he loves attention off strangers and seeks out eye contact from passers by.
He plays with toys and his sister but is happy to play alone (unless I leave the room and he will follow me)

He also waves hello and goodbye and has a few words, mama, Dada, hiya and babbles

Have you had his hearing checked?

ditsydoll · 08/05/2014 19:16

If I make a noise he doesn't recognise he turns to look what it is, so I would assume he can hear to be honest but will have that checked

I'm only expert on DD's autism, what makes you think DS is autistic?

ditsydoll · 08/05/2014 19:30

I read that not responding to their name is a red flag.

at 11 months my ds was a lovely happy baby. he was happy sat playing by himself repetively building and knocking down towers or emptying everything out of the cupboard then putting it all back in. sometimes he was oblivious to what was going on around him but as far as i remember he did respond to his name. he didn't have any speech though and he was delayed in other areas. we had no idea at that age that he had asd, it didnt really hit us full force til he was 3.
i would get your child's hearing checked first. imo its a very young age to be thinking of asd.

Tbh there's nothing that jumps out on that list that suggests autism to me

ditsydoll · 08/05/2014 20:35

Hi poltergoose sorry I did have a look at that and it was really helpful. Not responding to name doesn't come up as a red flag until 18 months so maybe I'm a little ahead of myself in terms of him missing the milestone, but I just have this niggling feeling that I know something's wrong.

I would get his hearing checked out.
