They're not wrong. This was a consultation period of less than three weeks over a period which included three Bank Holidays and the school holidays, despite the fact that the new draft Code of Practice is significantly longer than the previous version and they've rewritten a lot of it. The list of people they specifically approached for their views looks suspiciously handpicked to avoid anyone likely to cause trouble. Gove and his minions are just going through the motions because they're desperate not to have to embarrass themselves by admitting that they simply are nowhere near ready to bring this system in in September.

I find it really scary tbh, the whole thing is going to have a negative impact on our children.

The old system is being screwed on a daily basis and the new one looks like it is going to be even easier to wriggle out of or find loop holes in. I think SEN provision in this country can only get worse, which is a awful thought Sad Angry

"The bulk of it is taken up with general pious phrases
on consultation, joint working and co-operation
which have little effect in practice
on what is happening on the ground

and may well lead simply to more meetings
between more statutory bodies
with little being achieved other than the production of more reports"
