I'm pretty negative most of the time but dd 8 just made me roar. She has AS so of course take things literally. I just told her to stop 'making a song and a dance about it'

So she moonwalked in singing starships 'nothings gonna stop us now'.

I'm still laughing now. Tell me your positive stories Grin

Grin how fabulous!

I love those unexpectedly hilarious moments - all the better if they make me laugh when I was actually being cross instead.

I can't think of any right now (in the middle of packing for dd2's first sleepover -eeek! - which is taking far longer than it should as dd2 is agonising over flannel choices and which soap to take etc ), but am still Grin over your dd's

My Dd3 is also very literal and has learned how to use her literal thinking to make us laugh.

One of the most positive things about her though is her lovely nature, she is smiley and so easily pleased. A walk on the beach in her wellies or an ice cream from the ice cream van are like the crown jewels to her. There is no want want want or keeping up with the other 11 year old girls and I love it Smile

What a great idea for a thread, thanks Smile

I dunno if this is that great really, but ds talks all the time about the various ways he is going to kill his sister.

However, if I ever gave him a chocolate bar or something he always insists I either get one for her or he will split his own in half for her to share.

StarlightMcKenzie · 01/05/2014 20:31

And ds' 'literal' jokes.

A fork with three prongs is called a 'Threek'
An Octopus with 12 legs is called a 'Dodecahapus', whilst an Octopus with one leg is called a 'Hoppingpus'.
If you draw a Hexagon when you really want a Heptagon you have caused an Haccident.

And he laughed until he cried when I told him he was driving me up the wall once.

My DD squeals with sheer happiness and joy whenever she goes just about anywhere. She is high on life.

deerkitty · 01/05/2014 20:34

Haha I told dd she was 'pushing me to the edge', she had a horrendous tantrum because she 'wasn't touching me or pushing me anywhere.

DS3 tells me he loves me at least once a day every single day. And he means it Smile

oramum · 01/05/2014 21:18

at the dentist this week our dentist told us to give him a shout if we needed him. dd replied 'but I dont think you would be able to hear me we live far away'.

DS asked me yesterday why the Earth turned round. I'm not very good at physicsy stuff so I said he would have to ask DH. DS said "but you know best Mummy, you often tell me that. And Daddy only knows silly things anyway."

That's my boy Grin

He also told me the other day that I had a jar of tartare sauce in my bottom Confused

NeverendingPotato · 02/05/2014 10:30

Mine's only two, but when he returned from the childminder yesterday and I picked him up as he was running past me to go in the door (despite my open arms) he gave me a kiss (while looking over my shoulder)! He's such a little sweetie!

Fishandjam · 02/05/2014 10:34

fanjo, your DD sounds an absolute darling!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 02/05/2014 10:36

No need for oops, I'm used to having things repeated at me Grin

DS2 stands by the thing in waitrose/asda where you put your green token in one of the 3 slots to vote for which charity should get money. He always asks me which charity is which and then tries to persuade other customers to put their token in the one he agrees with eg "you've got to put your green thing in this one, it's for people who forget things like my great granddad".

DS4 just lies there and smiles at me and holds up his arms to be picked up if anyone walks past him.
