Anyone else with an Aspergers parent or sibling?

I was wondering how common this is - my father and brother both fit the AS diagnostic criteria very closely (though have never been diagnosed officially) and my sister's partner has an AS brother (diagnosed) and father (undiagnosed).

Does anyone else have this sort of family and if so does it affect you now, especially as a parent?

Our local council is trying to be a bit more politically correct. Poor dh now gets letters addressing him as Mr (my name). The first time he had to visit the Council offices in person and give his name as "Mr (my first name + our surname)" was truly demoralising for the poor man. At well over 6ft tall and built like a rugby player, it was hilarious watching him grit his teeth as he explained that he doesn't really have a woman's name.

I agree there is a huge difference between autism and these high-functioning AS types, but I'm still not sure there is a cut-off between definitely having AS and being "almost there" on the spectrum - most of the AS diagnostic criteria seem to accept there are a lot of undiagnosed AS adults out there.

I'd be interested in that book about Aspergers' marriages Jimjams.

I think there's a book called "Living with Mr Spock" or something similar. It was written by a woman whose husband has AS.

Dh and ds1 are more like Data from Star Trek: TNG. Oooh I sound like a right Trekkie don't I? I promise I'm not typing this while dressed as a Klingon or wearing pointy Vulcan ears.

Just did a quick Google and it was written by someone called Barbara Jacobs. I keep meaning to have a look at it but have never quite found the time.

Coppertop, how funny! I always say that my son speaks fluent Klingon!
