Hello

A while back, a few posters on SN suggested that we might consider closing off some of the less well-used SN topics, to make it easier for newbies and make it more likely that people's threads would be answered.

Having looked at the Google Analytics stats that tell us how well certain boards are used, the following four are pretty busy and we'd be reluctant to close them:

SN Chat
SN Children
SN Education
SN Teens and Young Adults

This leaves SN Support Sessions, SN Recommendations and SN Legal. We could close these to new threads so that the existing ones are still there and can be searched via the archive (and indicate to anyone trying to start a new thread there that they should go back to one of the four topics above).

Does this seem like a good idea? Does it answer users' concerns? All thoughts welcome...

someone asked about Parent's with Disabilities, earlier - would that have a separate section or be in general Disabilities/SN?

Ah, I remember there was a discussion, I wasn't sure of the outcome.

Yes, re the labelling, if it is just General SN/disabilities and Chat, that shouldn't exclude anyone?

WaveorCheer · 11/04/2014 20:05

Do you get unique user stats as well, Rowan?

Also agree that if SN Education is retained it would be better if it could be one board that's clickable from both the SN and Education sections.

Second or third that one, to pick up people who look in the general Education section first.

Additional Needs Chat
Additional Needs General
SN Education - another vote for making it accessible from both places

Zzzzz that song is so good alas I hate crumpets so yet again I feel alone and isolated, never one of the cool crowd. I just like toast, does anyone have a link to a toast song preferably one that makes toast cool, I'm so fed up of being boring, uncool and alone! I like croissants, maybe there's a song about croissants?

Yes, it is horrible when people post in SN education and have to be redirected because it is overlooked, especially when there are so many mumsnetters with such a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.

Disabilities/SN children and education

Disabilities/SN Chat

So as not to put those off in the early and uncertain stages, pre DX and to include those looking for answers to education issues, IMO.

Half a million! OMG. It feels like a small club!

I've just noticed, btw, that SN:chat threads are not archiving. There's threads going all the way back to last September and older threads are also coming up in search.

ouryve · 17/04/2014 08:57

Toast!

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 17/04/2014 12:29

Ouryve, I think that's worth reporting.

ouryve · 17/04/2014 13:29

I reported it as soon as I posted it, Ellen. Something's obviously gone pear shaped.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 17/04/2014 13:56

Ah well, they'll ge two reports now! Grin Well spotted.

Oops, thanks for flagging this folks, we'll get the Tech bods to look into it...

TwoLeftSocks · 23/04/2014 21:42

Just a thought but would it be possible to put a link at the top of the Behaviour/development pages over to SN? There seem to quite often be related links over there and people quite often get signposted over to here.

respectdue · 30/04/2014 23:39

Agree that two boards SN and SN chat are the way to go, in 10 years on here I've only checked those other boards a handful of times. They might get a few people looking at them but they son see there's no one posting and go to the busier boards.

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/05/2014 08:19

I'm concerned that SN Children is becoming an elite club for those who know it is there.

SNChat is easier to find and so where new posters go. Do they realise there is an SN Children and that their posts (the history of which could be valuable way after 30 days) will be lost?

EndlessLoveEndlessAppointments · 30/05/2014 22:02

Can we please have a separate topic forum for children with cerebral palsy?
