Hi has anyone used this book for a toddler. My Ds is currently being assessed for ASD, he is almost 2 and half. His hardest problem is sharing and taking turns which leads to complete melt downs where he gets himself into such a state and will throw whatever is in reach, I am really worried he will hurt someone. I came across this book while searching on line and he loves books. Any other suggestions would be extremely welcome. I would like to help him as much as I can so it will be less of a problem when he starts nursery. Thanks for reading.

Hanen More than words is the default recommendation on here and with good reason.

I have never heard of the book you mention thought that doesn't mean it isn't helpful of course.

Thanks Ra Ra and Polter. I have bought the More than words book and DVD after seeing it recommended on other threads, I am slowly getting through it, I also have a 1 year old DD. He goes to a Communication and socialisation class and a sensory class each week and they have given me some good ideas like counting to 5 and saying finished to end play and join everyone for a snack. Sometimes it works and sometimes its just too much for him. I have made him a communication book and made lots of picture cards but he doesn't like them and just throws them when I show him. Hopefully he will see the speech and language therapist soon. He doesn't speak and gets very frustrated. I know that a diagnosis isn't going to make everything alright but hopefully it will help me to understand him better. He is a very loving boy and would never intentionally hurt someone he just can't seem to control himself when he is angry. It doesn't help that he looks like a 4 year old and is very strong.
