My son was evaluated by an educational Psychologist at home. (Ds is 3 and awaiting ASD diagnosis) the EP said he has severe learning difficulties and so said he would ask for a statement.

We agree and then 3 weeks received a letter saying a statement had been requested and they were decideding if they should or not. So we sent in a parental info letter saying why we thought he needed it and a report from our private speech therapist.

Now we have received a letter saying oh yes he needs a statement assessment. Send us any supporting evidence u have etc.

So...... Do we send in the same report as it's only 3 weeks old. Or do we need to get a new one. And also does this mean he's going to get a statement or not?

Yes, send it in again, they will probably organise another, they will write to any medical professionals, social services, school or nursery and probably ask you for another, even more detailed report. Speak to your local parent partnership, they will explain all this to you in a lot more detail. No it doesn't mean a statement will be issued (but hopefully it will) they decide after all the assessments. You should have the name of the case officer at the local authority too, phone them and ask of anything you're not sure of. Hope it goes well x

Yes, it took us just over nine months and it's sooooo stressful! Try and get some good support around you and do plenty of research. Ipsea is a really good place to start and can offer lots of help should things get tricky. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly x

If your writing your parental report. I found this website very useful. Send copies of everything you have.

This part of the board doesn't get many posts. If you post on the link below, you'll get loads more.
