Hi my son atm is being accessed for autism, but in my heart i know he is. He is obsessed with straight lines, i was wondering if their obsession ever goes.

Inappropriate "interest" in straight lines is a classic autistic trait, e.g. looking at railings sideways on or oddly etc. My DS (who has ASD) never seems to have had the straight line thing though! I don't know if it will ever go but I would say that, if it does, he will probably replace it with something else so be careful not to overreact to it as he could replace it with something even less appropriate iyswim. As its an early "stim" it may be something that stays with him and develops and changes but is the same thing underlying. My DS has always had a constant stim related to pouring/dropping/sprinkling etc. He's gone through many, many permutations of it but basically its still there. That particular stim is not too bad (it helped with toilet training!) but he's developed and gone through many, many others. Have you looked at the NAS website? There's lots of info there about all sorts of things, make sure to look at their Information Sheets.
