Hi, this has probably been answered before but when I did a search I couldn't find it. How does the financing for schools that have a statemented child work? I am asking because at a paed appt the other day, she said it doesn't make any difference whether a child has a statement because the school already receive the extra money.

This doesn't sound right to me. How does the LEA know which schools need extra money if they don't know who needs it via a statement? I am confused!!

Every school gets a notional SEN budget, worked out using a formula. It's a notional budget because they don't have to spend that amount on SEN specifically.

A school is responsible for the first £6000 cost of SEN provision for each child. If the provision costs more than £6000 LA will top it up.

Thank you, that's really helpful to know.
