Hi,
I haven't posted for ages but I really need some advice.
My DS1 age 9 was diagnosed at 2, he goes to a SEN unit within a mainstream school and whilst we have had ups and downs we have always coped.
In the last 12 months he has become more and more unsettled both at home and school with behavior gradually deteriorating (aggressive, swearing, uncooperative etc) today he has had the worst day at school ever, taunting classmates, throwing chairs and hitting his teacher. At home this behavior has continued.
He is just not recognisable as my son anymore. We tried medication in the autumn and it didn't gave any affect even when the dose was increased. We need more help but I just don't know which way to turn. Does anyone out there have experience of a deteriation in behavior, causes or who we could contact. I have another son age 7 and a dh who has already said he can no longer cope like this.

You could take him back to Camhs and request behavioural advice, which NICE now say they must try before medication. We use ABA. You do not what his diagnosis is?

Sorry, his diagnosis is ASD and ADHD. We have never been seen by CAMHS, school did fill in a referral in September but we haven't heard anything yet, I'm assuming there is a waiting list?

I think you need to go back and discuss other medications perhaps. There are probably lots of options and perhaps you could try something different.
