I emailed the senco telling her the la had u turned and are assessing ds. She hasn't replied. No acknowledgement from the school at all. He still is on the same IEP from September. Has a LSS assessment but still not seen the report. No idea when the ed psych goes in.

This is a crap isn't it? Not looking good for a working future with a statement as they only work with me when they HAVE to

Sounds exactly like my school although you are slightly further in the process than me. I'm waiting to hear if they will assess. 6 weeks has now passed! Know LA have asked school for views but school have not said a single word, its as though it isn't happening.

Would be changing schools be a possibility for you? You do get to say which school you would like but I appreciate it depends if there is another school which would be suitable.

Yes it is crap and tbh a school that is so un-cooperative is not worth dealing with. Even with a statement they may well not want to put the work in to support him. I would be looking at other schools.

I am going to look at other schools for when he goes into jounior as there are no places anywhere local at his age

I no real feel for his needs yet, but ifs its bad I will be trying for a specail school where he can at least be accepted needs and all

We've been really lucky. The education report is already in and the EP is going in next week. But we already have an established relationship with both of these professionals.

I would just keep phoning and calling and generally making a nuisance of yourself - I find things start moving if I am annoying enough. At least a statement gives you more flexibility over school choice.

StarlightMcKingsThree · 22/01/2014 14:50

When you get a statement you can name an oversubscribed school and they have to admit (very little legal wriggle room for not doing)

StarlightMcKingsThree · 22/01/2014 14:50

Ignore the SENCO.

If you are interested in special schools I would start looking now .they often have long waiting lists

If I wanted a ss I couldn't get it named on a statement without a tribunal could I?

I asked his teacher today and she didn't know the sa had begun. Lordy. What a shambles. I want to believe the school wants to help, there just able to

Can I look at ss without knowing his primary needs? He hasn't seen a ep yet. I think it's speech but there is more underlying than his dyspraxia

I didn't have a tribunal with dd2 I was told by ed psych to look at sp sch and units I picked one I liked and they said they would take her and it was named on her statement . Her primary need is autism
