How bad does it have to be to get some help?

Been to the GP, got a referral to CDC, the CDC said they couldn't help...

What do I do now?

Since this, I've had a private OT diagnose tactile defensiveness... Not sure if this answers all the aggression thou! It can be extreme. Her speech is coming along so no concerns there. She can be lovely. She's just Jekyll & Hyde.

Can I go back to the CDC now?

There is ASD in the family...

Anyone any idea what's going on with her?! We are lost and overwhelmed.

Hi. Unaddressed sensory issues can cause emotional and behavioural problems (have a look here and here, for example), but everything I've read suggests that the earlier the sensory issues are identified and interventions put in place, the better.

Did the OT suggest any particular activities? Have you looked at "The Out of sync child has fun"?

Re ASD, I don't know if you will get anywhere at this stage or just be told to wait. I guess keeping a diary of all unusual behaviours etc would be a good idea. Other posters might know more about pursuing ASD dx at a young age.

I am having similar thoughts re my 3 yo DD who definitely has some sensory and anxiety issues. As you know, my DS was dx'd with SPD and anxiety, followed by an ASD (PDA) dx, last year.

Oops x-posted with Polter but similar suggestions!

thanks guys. food for thought. I am constantly looking out for spectrum type things! She's not rigid, as such, but does spin quite a bit, nah I can't see ASD, but then again...

The calpol - sometimes works but she refuses to take it. It has a hyper causing ingredient in it too, I forget which one, and she can be fairly hyper on a good day - not seriously ADHD like, just a bit hyper. I should get the other pain med, Calprofen I think its called...

Really must read the out of sync child book................. What am I waiting for?!

Just awaiting the OTs recommendations. I know she already suggested the Willbarger treatment...

OK - thanks will look at M-Chat. yes I had better start a diary then, great idea.

Thank you - I don't know what I'd do without mumsnet sometimes...
