Hello me yet again you must all be fed up of me posting! As some of you may know I have a ds who is nine next month .he has been very active since before birth .He was sent for a camhs assessment in February 2012 and they concluded he was very active because of dps depression and dd2s autism .since then the situation has become more challenging in the house he runs up and down constantly ,he also talks constantly .i feel guilty because dd2 obviously takes a lot of my time . He is also constantly in trouble at school for shouting out .i don't necessarily want medication just some understanding for him dp and I are considering discreetly filming him if we return to camhs any thoughts welcome well done if you got this far

Have you ever heard of phenols? They are in fruit/veg everything. My little boy used to run up and down I removed foods with high phenolic content and within days the behaviour was gone. If I give him too much it resurfaces. There is an e book called Fed Up and website fedup.com.au.
Note its not just additives it is food - red grapes/apples are very high. They are highly addictive and when my son came off them he would crave them and cry for a few days. If he really likes something - I always worry!

I have been asked a few times if ds has ADHD due to how hyper he is. I don't think he does, he has ASD and I think its due to his sensory issues.

Ds is constantly hanging upside down, bouncing his head of the settee, climbing up the walls in the hall way (narrow hall way), even when he does sit still he has to constantly bounce his legs up and down and fidget. He doesn't walk anywhere, he fast walks, bounces, spins etc. He can talk for England too, but only if its a subject of interest to him.

The alert prograe is brilliant we did it three years ago and one of the Ots on that suggested the ADHD referral .i do understand we're a complicated family but even strangers in the street have remarked on his activity levels!interestingly dp was diagnosed as hyperactive but as it was the 1970s very little was done . I really appreciate you all taking time to answer

I think, especially for boys, that the older they are the more it's taken seriously. If it's interfering with his school work, then it needs to be sorted, even if that 'sorting' is simple stuff like not chaining activities with lots of sitting down - intersperse them with heavy work activities or running, etc.

Thank you all so much claw your boy sounds very much like mine . It's interesting at school the caretaker keeps an eye on him and gives him little jobs to do
