Assessments of under two year olds

I though I read here before Christmas that leas have to assess under twos if parents request.

On gov.uk it's says they don't have to and there is no right of appeal?

I was hoping to get in before baby turns two, but seems there no guarantees applying now versus once he is older and needs are more apparent.

It's the dread and panic seeping back in

I thought so too and had a finding from the LGO when my LA refused but others have said there is no legal right so maybe the LGO got that wrong or it has changed in the last five years?

I think it said in a book from my la that it can be done but the child's needs have to be very severe and complex .i would be guessing some genetic conditions multi sensory impairment etc

That would make sense, my ds would fit within autumns description of having complex needs, thanks autumn.

Thanks, I will wait until he gets a dx ( or hopefully he is just a late developer and the pead and physio are both wrong).

I am repairing for a tribunal for my six year old so the baby can go to the back of mind so to speak

I don't want to worry you two boys but asi have posted I think to have a chance of having a baby assessed the need has pretty much to have been present from birth good luck whatever you do
