For me, some of my top stories of 2013 from this board are those who "won" the correct educational provision for their DC.

So, a few that spring to mind and their stories, - KeepOnKeepingOn1, inappropriatelyemployed, bjkmummy, scottishdancer, thedudesmummy, and myself

I'm sure I've missed off a whole host of people (sorry!)

Here's hoping that next year will bring the correct provision to others from our community

bjkmummy · 31/12/2013 19:10

wow - im honoured to see my name above - its been one hell of a year - for me claw's story has been one that I have followed closely and she has been inspiring this year.

agree with all the names above and that those who 'won' the right provision have been fantastic stories - for me again, the support on this board has been the best 'story' as without the simply amazing people on this board my 'journey' over the last year would have been even harder and some simply amazing people have been there and held my hand through the last year. we end on a high - this time last year we had the tribunal hurtling towards us and then in February was the actual tribunal - we end the year with a son in school fulltime thriving and happy and a fantastic school placement. we are now about to begin the fight again for his twin so may be at tribunal again next year so look forward in a mad way for my next journey and those people also on the same journey with me and hope that during 2014 we have many more success stories to read.

For me being new , I've read this thread for years , getting ideas , didn't know anything about it when going though statement process , but read other stories that have encouraged me though years to keep for correct support and even when we got the support right , other stuff happen meant a move of school and having to go though fight again to get correct support which still no where near getting , the statement hasn't even changed school and we are term in.
So when seems things are going okay , something else comes along to knock you back down again. Know that just got to keep going , but hate confrontation and feel that teacher , all think I'm a pain.
Although they all seem to appreciate that my child is well behaved , works hard especially given there test results , but so wish they realise that he can achieve so much more when he's properly supported during lesson and especially during test and exams .
They all agree on his entitlement to appropriated support / time during exam and test and then never do it. Keep repeating myself , need to get back in touch after holidays both with lea and school , as said on merry Christmas thread knocking his confidence will not get best out of him.
So I done loads of things people have suggest to others over last few years , but don't feel have confidence to advise others as even though I managed to get statement sorted , pushed and payed for loads stuff over the years , there are still times a wonder what he's going to do with his life. But with you people would have had so many good ideas in the first place . So that's a thank you from me.

Nice to see my name there. Yes there were some very bright points this year: one (the very best) was the headbanging going away for good, and another was winning the Tribunal (still waiting for any money though, just paid the tutors myself for this month as usual!).

This board has been a life and sanity saver all year. Thank you so much everyone here! Who knows what 2014 might bring!

Aw,what a lovely thing to read after a long night of ds not sleeping! Sharing ds's progress with you all is so special because you all get how huge it all is. Plus, this is the first place I come to when things are tough and for advice to help us along the way.

For me, reading Sallybears journey through her dd's operation and recovery was a highlight. As was Galena's dd.

nostoppingme · 01/01/2014 06:55

Me too, I went through the Statementing process and got a fully funded specialist dyslexic school for my child to start in September. I discovered this website when I was almost at the end of the SA journey so nobody on here really 'knows' me as I never introduced myself. However, a different opportunity came knocking on our door and we took up a job offer in the USA so handed the Statement back to the LA!

autumnsmum · 01/01/2014 07:36

It's by no means a top story but I would like to thank everyone for supporting me during the whole resource provision vs sp sch debate I went through in the winter and spring it was a difficult time but now dd2 is at her marvellous sp sch

hazeyjane · 01/01/2014 07:53

Reading that back, highlight sounds like the wrong word, it was just quite a journey, and Sallybear seems to have such fortitude.

nostoppingme · 01/01/2014 08:55

What I meant to say is that I don't 'know' everybody's journey as am a latecomer to the forum but one story I do remember is Scottishdancer

Thank you for remembering me. We did have a very long and difficult battle to get the right provision, but it has all been worth it. We couldn't have done it without the support from people on here and I just hope we will be able to use our experience to help others.
Happy 2014

claw2 · 02/01/2014 15:40

Aww thanks guys, glad you enjoyed our virtual hen night Grin I think I have shared my SN journey from dx to statement, every step of the way over the years, seemed only natural to share my wedding with you guys too!

I think Star giving me advice on here, while in the process of giving birth is a brilliant story. Although that was last year, I think! I think it really sets the tone for how much others are willing to support you, regardless of their own circumstances rather nicely!

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 02/01/2014 16:14

For me, actually meeting quite a few of you in the flesh was in my top 10. Thanks to signandsmile for arranging that. Xmas Smile

KOKOagainandagain · 02/01/2014 16:42

Thanks for mentioning us Smile

Maybe I should have a n/c for the new year - MovingOnUp

But then again, given I have to fit in tribunal appeal against refusal to assess, disability discrimination claim, complaint to BOG and LA with finally writing up my PhD dissertation, maybe a little premature!

sammythemummy · 02/01/2014 18:54

Can I be cheesy?

For me it was signing up and actually posting, I'm not much of a character on here but I really cherish your virtual support.

If ever there was a meet up in London I would to come along and meet some of you in person

ouryve · 02/01/2014 19:00

So many people's journeys have been so inspiring, this year, as have a lot of the little victories. I enjoyed the way a group of us worked together to work out how to get the best out of Language For Thinking for our DCs. I think that's a great example of how we've grown to be such a strong community - not just supporting each other through the tricky stuff, but empowering each other. And thanks of course to Moondog for sharing her notes and tips and giving us the confidence to just get on with it.
