Dd age 4 is still co sleeping but we want her in her own bed. How do I do this gently?

Could you put a mattress on your floor, and sleep with her on it?

Then gradually move away until she's comfortable sleeping on the mattress on the floor.

Then move the mattress onto her floor, repeat.

Then up on to her bed, repeat.

Etc.?

We did the reverse of that with DDs when they were little. I'm not sure about a 4 year old.

I would do what Lougle suggested. If you think she won't fall off the bed then i would skip the mattress and put a double bed in her room.

Does she wake up at night?

Thanks yes she does wake up at night.

DD had similar problems with DGS. He co slept until he was nearly 4 and she was really anxious about getting him into his own bed. In the end she just put him into his own bed, kissed him goodnight, and told him it was time to sleep. Amazingly he just went off without a murmur and has never had a problem going to sleep. I think it was years of not feeling anxious at bedtime made him so happy to go to bed and made things easier. It's worth a try!

The problem is still night waking which has not improved much. It seems to be settling then he needed a minor operation and it all went tits up again in the night. Bedtime is still a dream Smile.

My ds is still co sleeping and he is 5. We swapped bedrooms so ds is in his own room, with a double bed. So I am sleeping with him in his own room. I am hopeful that I will move into my own room next year during the school summer holidays. He has done so well settling into school this year, getting him to sleep without me is the next big thing.

Sorry I dont have any advice.

I would go with zzzzz start it off in her room co-sleeping in her bed, then you do the gradual moving away rather than her moving further away from your room.

We did this with ds2 (asd) - took around 6 months to finally get him to the point where I was sleeping out on the landing out of sight.

With ds3 (also asd) he had a long piece of wool, one end was tied to his bed and I had hold of the other, made it easier than it had been with ds2 as I was able to be downstairs until my bedtime and then I just tied it to my bedside table drawer handle at night
