Do you know how they motivate her to sit on the toilet at school !!

We recently had some success with a very reluctant toilet refuser using his most favourite snack.

Initially he only had to touch the toilet with his bum cheeks to get his reward which was a tiny piece of his snack of choice.

Once he was happy to sit very briefly we extended the sitting time using "wait".

After a week of this every half an hour we went cold turkey and ditched the pull up. Then of course it was a bit stressful getting the first wee in the toilet but we increased to every 10 minutes and again the motivator helped.

We were very lucky that he responded very quickly and there were 2 of us to take the pressure off.

Hope that maybe helps and good luck Xmas Smile

We have gone backwards after an initially successful spell. He knows he is supposed to use the toilet, and if you sit him on it and a wee/poo is on board, he will do it there. But then he does it in his pants at other times, without indicating anything (or will indicate afterwards, by pulling down his pants just any old where, that can be a fine mess!). It is rather upsetting after the first few weeks when things went so well. We had 5 pairs of wet trousers yesterday, despite being taken to the toilet frequently.

We are using a phone (with YouTube) as a reward, and he really loves getting it, but it just does not seem to stop him having accidents all over...

Thanks for the replies I might try the reinforcer .i wonder if dd is more used to the toilet at school than our one at home

They have little toilets at school too which can make a big difference.

There are some much better seats available now that fix properly to the toilet so are more stable.

Sorry you have had a set back TDM and fingers crossed you can get back on track soon Xmas Smile

We have the opposite problem. She will wee and poo at home but won't sit on any other toilet. Hoping to use a strong reinforcer to generalise the toilet seat:)

Dude's mum - it's the season for toilet regression. We have had two accidents in the last hour here.

Yes our DS is also dry at night and has been from ages ago (bar a few accidents when he is very tired or not feeling well). Polter your situation sounds a lot like ours and I am encouraged that it got better in the end! I am getting a little tired of all the poo everywhere! (have a very old and sometimes incontinent cat as well, some mornings it feels like poo city before I have even opened my eyes properly...!)

A good morning at the moment is one on which I have not had to wash both the cat and the child before the sun has even risen....

Thank you that's very interesting polter dd2 does have hypermobility .in many ways I'm not sure she is ready but family are pushing me .her school are great as it's a sp sch they know many pupils take longer to train .

I would definitely not stress about it autumn If she isnt ready, she isnt ready. But you could begin to get her used to sitting on the loo before bathtime and when she first gets up in the morning maybe.

Dont do it just because people are telling you you should !!

Thanks I'm getting a lot of pressure from mil about it but she doesn't seem to understand dds disabilities at all well
