Dd10 has downs and has a fixation with taking any mobile device we have and going into settings and setting a passcode, which she immediately forgets she's disabled her iPod now, it's driving me mad does anyone else have this? It's every few months that she does it, lulls us into a false sense of security then does it again.

Me and oh are arguing about it now, about how to fix this and she's getting a hudl for Xmas how on earth do we avoid her doing it with that too. I said we set it up in advance and I put a passcode on first but rather than ask me to enter it she'll prob just try to guess and disable it arghhh

Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

Yes but it might sound harsh!

I would be putting all devices in a locked cupboard or box and only taking them out when you or another adult can sit with her.

Maybe someone else will come along with a more techie idea, fingers crossed.

Good luck Xmas Smile

If the hudl is android, then you can download zoodles kidmode. You can then put it in kidmode before she uses it, and she won't be able to adjust any settings, only go into the apps you give permission for.

ipad, ipod, and iphones all have guided access built in, which essentially does the same thing - once you put it in a programme and put guided access on, they can't really get out of that programme.

Okay, to be fair, they actually can, but it is truly a complicated PITA procedure that I had to do the other day because DS1's ipad glitched and went into guided access when we didn't have a code on it, so it wouldn't come out.

It nearly drove me insane trying to sort it (think over 2 hours of research and then implementing), so make sure the code is in there before you even consider putting on guided access (in fact, it's a good idea to put a code in on settings anyway as I-products have a glitch that can sometimes kick guided access in all on its own - which is what happened to DS1's!).
