This is my ds. They put him in the middle at the front.

Good on them, what a nice performance that was. I hope you felt very proud.

Merry Christmas to you and Master Starlight McKenzieXmas Smile

Lovely Xmas Smile

Star, that is lovely, but do you have consent for all those very identifiable children to be on the internet, as well as your DS?
Just asking.

Spherical · 09/12/2013 18:06

That was lovely

babiki · 09/12/2013 18:09

Oh how wonderful, sobbing here! He is a cutie!!

TOWIELA · 09/12/2013 18:10

Bless him - lovely performance! Total inclusion and total fun. Videos like your DS enjoying himself and being properly included, makes all the crap we parents get from the "powers that be" whilst we fight to get the right provision so worthwhile!

It's nowt to do with school.

Silver TBH I don't know what the rules are. You're probably right that I should take it down but it is dropbox so not the internet, though linked here.

We were all asked if anyone objected to parents videoing. Nowt was said about t'internet and schools usually make a right ole song and dance about it. I assumed other people will be sticking my ds on facebook.

I'll take it down in a bit nonetheless.

I'm glad you're not pissed off with me star, I just remember a couple of times when I was so delighted and happy about something DS did with others that I'd have taken out full page ads if I'd had the money.
You are right, inclusion done properly shouldn't be noticeable. It should be the norm.
One Day.

StarlightMcKenzie · 09/12/2013 18:24

Ah, it's gone now.

Thanks for your comments. I was astounded that they put him in the middle with his flapping and wrong steps all on show. Usually he's stuck in the wings with a babysitter who can whisk him away should he disturb the visual quality of the performance for the audience.

The good thing is he can watch the video and see what he looks like, how together he was, where he forgot to sing etc. And become a bit more self aware.

Don't be daft Silver. I'd rather have a nudge from you on the internet than 75 parents in real life plus a possible exclusion of my ds from something that is so inclusive.

Absolutely brilliant Grin

starfish71 · 09/12/2013 18:39

Star your boy is wonderful! :)

mymatemax · 09/12/2013 18:52

aww missed it, but glad to hear he had a staring role!

lougle · 09/12/2013 19:15

I also missed it but well done them, and well done your DS!

Ineedmorepatience · 09/12/2013 19:27

I missed it too but it sounds wonderful Grin

StarlightMcKenzie · 09/12/2013 19:32

Ah, he had no staring role. He was just one of the dancing choir, in the middle of them, trying his best, bumping into the other kids a little, forgetting then remembering to sing, but enjoying himself.

StarlightMcKenzie · 09/12/2013 19:34

Thanks though. He's quite clearly finding it a bit challenging but still there he is, in the middle.....

What lovely people to do that.

My friend's little boy goes to the same school as Dd3, he has Asd. Last year they did a concert, he was on the stage with his class and he did a full on disco type dance all the way through the song.

He got the biggest cheer at the end, it was brilliant Grin

I wish I had a video of him to show the people who dont understand what inclusion is!!

2tirednot2fight · 13/12/2013 18:02

My DS is gutted you've taken the video off Starlight, he watched it a number of times! He's just asked again and I had to tell him it's gone!

inappropriatelyemployed · 13/12/2013 18:24

Doh missed it - go little Star!

Bluebirdonmyshoulder · 13/12/2013 18:54

Missed it too but well done little Star! Lovely story.

Thepoodoctor · 14/12/2013 09:02

A couple of years ago the lad in DS class who has MLD and was all over the shop in reception appeared on stage having an absolute ball as a sheep in the nativity. Not a dry eye in the house Smile

Last year my DS, who only a brave man would cast in a major part, did his own very particular take on the role of The Donkey. Grin

This is indeed inclusion. Congrats to mini Starlight!

sammythemummy · 15/12/2013 16:19

What did your ds think of the video star?

hoxtonbabe · 16/12/2013 07:55

I missed it but it was clearly a nice positive thing :-)
