Special needs duet trike

We are going to center parcs this Christmas with my DS aged 8 who has ADHD. I have booked a duet trike for hire- a trike with a wheelchair style seat at the front . I was just wondering if anyone has used one and how difficult they are to ride as I hear center parcs is quite hilly. My DS weighs about 21kg

I have an ordinary Trike - a Pashley Picador. It doesn't have the wheelchair seat.

The trike is very difficult to get used to. It's very different to riding a bike. On a bike you lean into corners - on a trike you have to steer around them. You have to be aware that you are wider than a bike if you are riding on pavements and take care that one wheel doesn't slip off.
You really notice cambers in the road on one, especially when one wheel leaves the ground.

Having said all that, once the trike is loaded with a week's shopping in its rear basket it becomes much more responsive and controllable.

The duet has 2 wheels at the front (mine has 2 wheels at the back) so maybe the Duet will be an easier ride.

Good luck!
