Supply staff and IEPs

DS has an IEP as basically he cant write.(Bilateral coordination probs). He has been using a Neo since Easter for any work that involves writing although for some things eg long addition or multiplication he chooses to use a pencil as he cant do columns easily on the Neo. It was quite a long process to get school to give him permission to convert to the Neo. Even now the "battle" isnt totally won.
Whenever he has a particular supply teacher (when his class teacher is away or on a prep day) she wont let him use the Neo. She uses reasons like "there isnt much writing" but what isnt a lot to her is lots to DS.
Using the Neo is on his IEP but this doesnt seem to hit home with her - I suspect she is of an age and mind set that doesnt buy in to special needs, just lazy children.
DH says that DS computer is like a pair of glasses to a child with damaged eye sight. No one would take them so why take the computer. Having said that, he doesn`t think I should go in tomorrow (due to have supply again) but note down these instances and write to school next term.
Any thoughts.

Just having a quick flick before din-din. I think you should do exactly what you've said. Write down the instances and your views (the glasses analogy is very good) and the fact that its in his IEP and leave it until next term. I'm not advocating inaction as I think this is bloody ridiculous and disrespectful but as its the end of the academic year might as well wait unti the new term. DO consider using the word "respect" somewhere in there and possibly the big "D" word, discrimination, those two really get them at it!

DS wasnt allowed to use Neo DH wrote brilliant letter, quite friendly at first thanking all concerned for help this year but then pointing out that it isnt fair to expect 8 y.o to negotiate to use his Neo when it is the only method he has to complete work quickly and legibly (sp?). He did liken it to glasses and said that without it DS was disabled. He didn`t use supply teachers name but said recent events had made letter necessary and that we hoped a water tight system for informing teachers of DS needs could be found in the new year.
