Christmas gifts for SN baby

My little boy has had meningitis and has evidence of developmental delay, I am wondering what gifts I can buy that will help to bring him on as well as be fun obviously.

So far all I can think of is the usual treasure basket malarkey, some kind of lava lamp (but don't even know where I would get this or whether there is special sensory lava lamps for babies). I have been advised to get him an indoor baby swing but don't know which to buy as he is six months and 16lbs in weight, no danger of him climbing out etc as he won't have the strength for some time, but wondered if there are swings with added sensory bits, lights noises etc.

I am basically new to all this so if there is any kind of toy/accessory thagt you would recommend I would be very interested, is there a baby sensory stuff site/shop?

Any ideas welcome, thanks.

This is a nice website for some ideas www.sensetoys.com/

A decent sling would give all the benefits of an indoor swing, with the added advantage of letting bubba feel cosy & safe in your presence.

Any supermarket or shopping centre is a full-on sensory experience

Try this website too -

Also some of the Lamaze toys are lovely like Freddie Firefly. Touch and feel books too and play gyms with hanging toys are good.

Space blankets are great too.

At that age my ds loved admiring himself in a mirror - I think k it might have been a lamaze one (plastic of course).

If you want to project things - lights patterns etc the mathmos light projector is good, not cheap ( but cheaper than the ones in special needs catalogues)

www.mathmos.com/mathmos-space-projector-light-with-oil-wheel-1516-0.html

These can be projected onto the wall/ceiling or even on to the reflective umbrellas that photographers use (especially if he has visual problems)

Mathmos also make lava lamps

This shop has got battery powered lava lamps of different types and those fibre-optic lights etc all cheaply, I think for stocking fillers. Argos does one as well
