Help with Statement

Can you please give me examples of what to put in Part 3?

All I can think of is working in smaller groups (3-4 children?)
Help with her speech and lang- Although I still don't know what that is.
1:1 assistance during playtime and lunch time.

Her main difficulties are:
-Receptive & expressive language delay
-Concentration and attention skills
-Some social issues (i.e. will interact with children, has a coupkle of friends, but doesn't know how to play appropriately at times).
-Sitting for a whole activity. So she will wonder off if she doesn't like the story at circle time.

What kind of provision do you get as far as SALT in Reception?

TIA

Part 3 should be supported by what the specialists have said in their reports ie SALT, OT, EP etc. You can out your parental views and pupil view in part 2 but part 3 should really be coming from somewhere else the LEA will dismiss.

Have they sent you a proposed statement inviting you for your input?

Hi Sammy - your DD sounds much like mine. We are going through the statement process at the moment. She has been assessed by the NHS SALT who has recommended termly visits from SALT and a programme for school to do.

We have also had private SALT sessions and her report recommends weekly 45 minute sessions.
I know which one I want.

I am assuming the statement when we get it will say termly visits and I will appeal for more.

I am not very experienced with this and not really sure of what I am doing, but am taking it one step at a time.

I am also hoping for 1:1 support for the times when DD wanders off (when things get tricky).

By the time you get to tribunal each and every provision in part 3 is referenced to the report it comes from and must be an exact quote of provision recommended by the relevant prof - EP, SALT, OT etc.

blueshark Her Nursery teacher asked what I think she needs and I also want to see what help there is out there from other parents.

Prince termly visits is probably what she will get as her NHS salt has yet to show up at nursery.

Can you decline what help they offer and ask for more? Is that when an appeal comes into place

you can negotiate with the LEA between proposed and final statement but most LEA dont take much notice :(
