Hello,
I'm looking for a Behavioural optometrist in or around Brighton. Can anyone recommend anyone?
My DS's reading has improved no end since taking him out of school but he just said today that the letters jump out. He does get very tired after a few minutes of reading.
I'm assuming it is a behavioural optometrist we need?!
TIA

Yes, you need a BO. Have you looked at the BABO website?

Sounds like he needs to play Engaging Eyes, it'll help with the symptoms you mention

Please please don't waste your money on this ask your gp for a referral to an orthoptist who will test and give exercises for free on the nhs if needed !

I know there are differing opinions on BOs, but going to one was the best decision we made regarding my son. He was a different child at the end of the Vision Therapy. It helped not only his vision, but also his gross motor ability.
Admittedly not all BOs are as good as each other.

We had a similar experience with Dd2 mrsbaffled she was really struggling at school before she saw a BO and even though she still finds academic stuff hard she finished school with good GCSE's.

Before she did her exercises and wore her coloured glasses she couldnt copy off the board or follow the lines of writing in a book.

We are now using one for Dd3 but we are doing a less intense program for her.
