Sensory processing disorder with no co morbids?

Has anyone heard of this? I'm asking for a friend. I don't know her terribly well we just got chatting about my ds.

Her son sounds to me to have SPd. Hates labels in clothes, certain textures. Can be very clingy and babyish. Seeks out certain textures etc but copes and behaves fine at school. No one wants to assess him either.

Can a child have just SPd? Not that any one can be sure he isn't just a bit on the sensitive side as no professionals involved

Locally, noone is interested in SPD on its own. My son has it, but we were told it's just part of him, and there is nothing wrong. We were given a leaflet to read, but that was it. No dx or help given. Even when we went back later to look into AS dx they just seem to brush off all the sensory stuff as unimportant. :(

(As it happens I think I have SPD too. I have a few OCD traits, but minor, so yes, it can be standalone)

I have read plenty about it and asked for and got some allowances at school like a move n sit cushion. No idea how to help with distractions from noise. Luckily the teacher seems more in control of his class than last year as they now work in silence. ... marks improving now. They may allow him to sit SATs in a separate room. I need to get to the bottom of what can make the difference between a 2a in a reading test at the end of the year last year and a 5c 6 weeks later at the start of the new year.....?!

How old is DC? You can start testing for Dyslexia at 6 years old.

I think this is one of the things we are dealing with our DS1. Especially if you have a strong family history.
