Does such a product exist??! I have just left a panicked message on OT's answerphone but don't anticipate getting a response any time this year..

Had a nightmare this afternoon, attempting to drive through a city centre in the after school rush hour, with DS (age 6 and his SNs mean he knows how naughty he is being but you can't reason with him or make him understand how dangerous it is!) literally hanging off my neck where he's undone the seatbelt and dragged himself still attached the special car seat, forwards and jammed himself in the footwell! I had to keep pulling over in places where you can't! He thought it was hilarious even when his face was jammed between his seat and the back of the car seat and his legs were all bent up!

I was frantic. Had to phone DH in the end to calm down.. he couldn't do anything but I couldn't see how I could get home with a free-floating DS loose in the car, wearing his carseat like a tortoise wears a shell!! Sounds funny now but it wasn't...

I have been Googling for half an hour.. I'm sure I've heard of something which firmly covers the seat belt locking mechanism.. but I can't find anything appropriate.

Can any one advise? I can't have another trip like that! He usually goes to school on transport thank God.. but it was sports day this afternoon..

If anyone does try it please report back and let us know how you get on. I've got a little Houdini too but she's still in a car seat with harness & only gets her shoulders and arms out - hasn't tried the buckle .....yet!
I use a Snugsit which has solved that problem but they've stopped selling those and replaced it with Hugit which just didn't work as well with DD so I pray I don't lose my original one.
Saw the LockTite mentioned recently on another thread & sent for one but haven't used it yet. Sounds daft but I just can't see how to fit it as the buckles on the Britax are secured to the harness so are too big to go through. (Will confess that I haven't actually taken the car seat out of car to see if there's a way). If anyone has worked it out please let me into the secret!

R - if you take the carseat out (I'm guessing here - but this is how my Britax works) you can unhook the shoulder straps at the back and pull them through....

Ooh, I have sent off for info on Buckle Guard. We had that one from GLTC and it took DS about half an hour to remove it! The other thing to consider is a Crelling Harness (sorry if already mentioned on thread, too lazy to read all posts ). The Houdini is the popular one and the name makes me and DH larf (if that's still allowed these days).

Thanks Blackduck - thought there had to be a way but have just been so busy that the hassle of removing the carseat wasn't top of the list. I'll give it a go.
Please don't stop laughing Davros - it is allowed!

bumping can you keep this bumped plaease

Reiver, with the lock tite, you need to take the car seat out of the car, loosen the tightening strap so shoulder straps are very baggy and then undo them from the tightening strap on the back pull the straps thru the front of the car seat and thread the lock tite thru the straps then post straps back thru the seat holes and reconnect to the tightening strap, tighten it up and reinstall seat in the car.

Thank you MatNanPlus, much appreciated. It's good to know it can be done ....and exactly how.

Beltlock is another product that might help. stopped mine opening the seatbelt

ouryve · 16/12/2014 20:58

OP's DS has probably outgrown his car seat in the past 8 years, cantbelive

It just makes the button inaccessible if you have the type of buckle with the button on top. No good for the ones on the side, though.

And none of this stops DS2 from wriggling out of whatever is strapping him in! He hasn't done it so much since I've been sitting in the back with him and have banned toys from the car. You'd think they'd distract him, but no, they're something to throw on the floor then climb out to look for.
