How lovely! .Am slightly dreading DS1's sports day next Tuesday - his dyspraxic traits mean that he's not the most athletic of children, bless him. They did a Fun Run last week for charity and he gallopped and skipped the course rather than running it! Spent most of the time with one arm whirling round and round like a windmill too... But he enjoyed every minute of it, which was the main thing. Don't know how he'll react when it's more competitive.

Ah glad it went well. We have ds's sports day tomorrow but after last year I don't hold out much hope. I was waiting in the field with the other parents when the children came trooping out and ds spotted me across the vast distance. He ran straight across, scrambled up me and refused to let go for the rest of the afternoon! I did join in a race to try and get him to have a go but we were last .

I did consider not going this year so that he might join in a bit but we've got to dress in red and do a walk for sport relief. Could be interesting!

I enjoyed today. Ds walked a whole mile for sport relief and he held my hand which was a nice surprise. (Afterwards he dragged me into his classroom and made me sit on a chair so that I wouldn't go home!). All the children did really well and it was so lovely and relaxing walking in the sunshine with the sea glittering in the distance. Not your conventional 'sports day' but very nice all the same .

Well,we've done sports day - and it was fine! DS1 came second in egg and spoon and didn't drop his egg at all - so proud! The other races were all in teams and they'd definitely mixed them up in terms of athletic ability, so he came out with two seconds for them as well, despite the fact that he ambled rather than ran (and at one point stopped a metre from the finish line and stared vaguely around . So relieved I even found myself lining up for the parents' egg and spoon - don't know what possessed me - it was 32 degrees!!

And best of all, they had a mother/toddler race at the end and DS2 actually took part! Smiling!

Sorry - think I must have sunstroke causing excess of exclamation marks.
