Dd2 no diagnosis

Hi all dd2 has been in the system since birth as born prem. been to a Cdc where they said she was fine aged 18 months. Since then we've seen camhs (or I have as they won't see dd as she's too young) and see a pead every six months.

Dd2 4.3 in reception was late to talk and walk. Used pecs and marathon for a while. Speech now fine although won't speak when very anxious.

Suffers severe anxiety particularly about school, was up at 1am last night with her very upset about school.

Has awful separation anxiety. Always comes home from school very emotional often crying screaming and whinging.

School recently said in a report that she struggles going up and down stairs although rest of motor skills are fab. That she needs support above and beyond her peers and that she struggles with change.

She's a very needy, clingy child who is on melatonin to help sleep.her eye contact is good and speech good. Pead was going to do ados couple years ago but that got forgotten about. Need to know what to ask pead for at app in Couple weeks. She doesn't have any dedicated. Support at school but is often. Dry clingy with certain teachers ie walks round playground holding their hand.

Any idea what I should be asking for? I'm shattered as she's awake every night and the crying before school is grinding me and her down.

Off to work in an hour so will check back in later x

Sounds as though anxiety is the main concern? What do you want out of the Paed appt?

2boysnamedR · 26/11/2013 17:48

Re the stairs has she had a Ocupational therapy assessment? Have you completed a conners scale re behaviour? I have just done one for my ds for his behaviour but he is impulsive

2boysnamedR · 26/11/2013 17:49

Before I saw ds pead this time I asked her what she wanted out our meetings? Was we working towards a diagnosis as I felt it was time to got on and dx him

Stressedtothehilt · 26/11/2013 18:25

Thanks guys, she did had an OT assessment who said she has sensory issues and left it at that. I just feel like actually no one is helping her directly. Camhs and pead talk to me but don't speak to her. Yes anxietY is a major factor as well as mild sensory issues like clothing, food, noise etc. .

2boys good idea I may ask our pead the same

I really want to know what's causing her anxiety? Does anxiety cause sensory issues or vice versa? Is sleep affecting anxiety or anxiety affecting her sleep? Is there anything underlying causing anxiety and sensory issues

Hello. My ds has dxes of sensory processing disorder and anxiety (including separation and general anxiety). We have yet to get completely to the bottom of his anxiety but it does seem that his (until recently undx'd and untreated) sensory issues have played a major part. From what I've read it is not uncommon for untreated sensory problems to lead to secondary mental health issues such as anxiety disorders.

2boysnamedR · 26/11/2013 18:51

Not sure I can help re the aniexty but my son has sensory issues and his dyspraxia is the cause. But it seems like hyper mobility and hypertona are quite common so I'm not saying she has that. It's just for my ds his SPd is a symptom of something else

Stressedtothehilt · 26/11/2013 18:58

Jack thanks that's really useful about sensory issues causing mental health issues, I will use this as ammunition against the pead. I just know there's something not quite right with her. My dd1 has ADHD and she was relatively 'normal' compared to dd2 so I just know something's up and need to find out to help her

Thanks for replying polter. No didn't get a sensory diet just got told has sensory issues and never saw her again. She observed dd for 45 mins in nursery last year and said she was fine. I don't know enough about asd in girls to be able to say if I suspected it. I know a boy with aspergers and she has some of his tendencies but not others. We are in the West Country so choices of peads and private clinics are limited :(

Stressed, have a look at this blog by a mum of a DC with SPD, extreme separation anxiety and sleep issues - sound familiar?

Stressedtothehilt · 26/11/2013 19:38

Thanks polter

There is a useful section in here about the emotional impact of SPD.
