DD is in primary 3 in mainstream school. She has a rare condition resulting in ataxic cp diagnosis. Her behaviour at home is either super or appalling, 0 to 100 mph tantrums for something as simple as being asked to put her shoes on. We see psychologist once a month for this.

She's doing great academically and as a result gets no support in class. Up until now school been saying she's a model pupil and when we mention home behaviour they look at us In disbelief but her new teacher has painted a different picture. She tells us dd is fidgety in class, gets up out seat when not supposed too, shouts out when not her turn or if she needs to say something, entertains herself by looking through bag : lunchbox & playing with pencil case when teacher is talking. This sound more like DD to me but what can we do to help her?

Does this behaviour sound familiar to anybody? How can we help her sit still & stay focused in class, doesn't like her move & sit cushion as says it hurts her bottom and she fidgets that much when on it she loses her balance and falls off chair.

Sorry for long post

Thanks for reply Goose her OT discharged as meeting targets for gross & fine motor skills. Physio discharged her as can't do anything else to help her at this age. Will try contact OT about sensory needs but I know the waiting list at our paediatric centre is over 200 for OT alone.

She sits at side of class bearers door so she can easily get to desk without falling, her class has its own courtyard and teacher says she often gets dd wrapped up and sends her outside to complete some task that doesn't really need done, think she has been called the garden monitor. So if she getting very twitchy and starting to distract she is sent outside to calm down. Her teachers are fab but as she moved up the school I can see this becoming an issue.

Will call OT on Monday, thanks x
