Hi, I have previously had advice on here a few years ago when I had a few concerns about my dd, you actually convinced me to get further advice and she was fully assessed. She was found to have autistic tendencies but didn't tick enough boxes for a diagnosis.
I now have concerns about my ds but don't know if I'm now being over observant and worrying about nothing because I felt like that after the outcome for dd. Although the things about ds are different to dd.
My ds is nearly 5 and has just started full time school, he is very bright already learning to read and is amazing with numbers.
But a couple of things the school have spoken to me about are firstly his reluctance to write he hates writing, struggles to hold a pencil and his attempts are quite hard to read.
He also gets very excited over things and they find he has trouble calming down to be able to move onto the next activity. We know he is like this and have always thought of him as very enthusiastic!
They have also asked if he has had a hearing test recently as he talks very loud all the time. (We have actually had his hearing checked as we had concerns about his hearing last year but his hearing was normal)
He also cannot keep still, he constantly fidgets sat at the table eating (he has fallen off the chair several times), he has to be on the move all the time but is very clumsy and falls, trips, bumps into things very often. Although he never seems to hurt himself and doesn't like a fuss if he does fall.
I'm really sorry for the long post and appreciate anyone who has read it, so am I just worrying about nothing and he is a typical 5 year old boy or does anyone think there is cause for concern? Thank you to anyone who can offer advice.
