Ds2 (asd) has come home with a party invitation from a child who he mentions playing with quite regularly. It's not a whole class party either and I've never spoken to the mum. It's just so lovely to see a party invite that's not come from children whose parents are my friends (although those invites are also lovely to receive)

I feel like finding the mum and giving her a big hug (but I won't!)

Obviously I will spend the whole party in a state of anxiety and won't be able to truly enjoy the moment til it's all over without incident!

What a lovely post! And am so happy for you, and your ds. Hope he does enjoy the party, but whether he does or not, it shows he and the birthday kid both enjoy each other's company.

Excellent! I hope he has a good time.

They do matter, a lot. Fantastic Smile Ds2 is overjoyed when he is invited to a party. I remember the first time he went to a softplay party aged 4/5, and just walking in beaming, and coming out beaming too. That memory has stayed with me, even when he hasn't enjoyed some social events, that he does love the right party, and all the more for not being invited to many. Whereas dd gets invited to so many I think she will never get the same sheer joy out them as he does when it goes to plan.

Aw, i know that sense of happiness/pride Grin

DD (HFA) came home with one a few months back. Only 6 children were invited from a class of 29 - and she was one of them! My little girl's presence was actually wanted at someone else's do.

And when i picked her up (dd insisted she would be fine on her own, but i was on tenterhooks for the whole 90 minutes) the party girl's mum said that dd had been a delight and was helping with all the adult jobs such as arranging the food table, napkins, plates etc.

DD still goes on about it even months later!

"Ohhh, remember that time i got to line up all the cups and plates? I want my birthday party to be just like that, Mum."
