What would you say to this?

DR has a Turn in her eye and asd. Now I want her to have the ooperation to correct her eyes but the ophthalmic doesn't want her to have it because of her asd.

She kept saying "if she has autism then a turn in her eye is the least of her worries and I wouldn't bother having the operation"

What would you say in response? I want rd to have the operation because she has enough problems without worrying about this and enough reason to be picked on.

How does your dd feel about it?

I agree with you, unless there is a clinical reason for delaying or modifying treatment to take account of the difficulties (such as sensory) autism adds!

Dd is unable to understand enough to make a decision.

'if she has autism then a turn in her eye is the least of her worries and I wouldn't bother having the operation'

Put that straight back in writing to them and ask if they are sure that they are refusing to do this procedure because it is the 'least of her worries'. Ask them if they would refuse it to a similarly presenting girl without ASD and finally make it clear to them that given her difficulties she is relying on all her other senses, her physical attributes and her appeal to peers all the more acutely.

Thanks all starlight brilliant advice as usual.
