I'm sure I've read somewhere that when you send your request for statutory assessment that the school/lea automatically get the Enhanced version of SA+ For your child.

Is this true or is it that the school get this once Statutory Assessment has been granted.

Thanks in advance

Sorry. I completely forgot the word funding. I actually meant will school get enhanced funding until a decision has been made. Apparently it's the stage between school action plus and statement.

I'm no expert either but my senco tells me applying for SA gives no added benefits at all ( but in my case she then called in people and a new IEP) but only because she was dragging heels

StarlightMcKenzie · 11/10/2013 12:40

No. I sincerely doubt it. What if the assessment found your child not needing a statement?

sweetteamum · 11/10/2013 12:41

Thanks guys. I don't even know why it's in my head and am absolutely convinced I heard or read it somewhere.

No benefits eh?

Loads of benefits to requesting a statutory assessment, mainly for getting people to do what they have promised and to account for provision or lack of so far.

It's a term used by some SENCOs to put off requests for SA, to imply that there is another hoop to jump through level of provision available.

buss · 11/10/2013 12:43

If that was the case school would be applying for statements constantly rather than putting parents off applying for them!

StarlightMcKenzie · 11/10/2013 12:43

Yes. They are required to fund support according to need.

'my senco tells me applying for SA gives no added benefits at all ' Shock
utter garbage

You wouldn't want to be on my shoes would you?

To be honest. I really cannot praise the senco highly enough. She deserves a medal as she bends over backwards to make sure the kids get what they're entitled to.
