She's had a G-tube for 6 years (she has severe cerebral palsy and cant eat) but a fundo was not done at the same time rather unusually as her paediatrician doesnt like them. Well, 6 years of her often puking the entire feed across the room if she is jiggled or coughs or laughs or sits forward. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a week. I'm sick of it. How do I make her paed see reason? He claims they come 'undone' but he doesnt have to live with hair trigger puking. This evenings vom was an 8 footer across the room. Vanilla flavoured sick.
We had to replace the carpet with laminate but cant afford to change the fabric sofas and everything in my life smells of vanilla sick.
Sad

Sorry dont really know the answer as our problem was kind of the reverse in that we went for fundo but argued we didnt want G-tube as we felt weight gain and eating issues would resolve once the constant puking stopped (which it did)
DS has mild CP and SLD but those issues were nothing compared to the non stop puking, I really do feel your pain, he had surgery at 2.6yrs and it worked miracles. I was sceptical of the fundo really working and read lots about it undoing or growing out of it but we approach the fourth aniversary of surgery and have had no problems.
It felt like we had a long wait for surgery and had to be firm about wanting it, but like you say they're not living with it day to day, we couldnt believe how nice DS smelt after surgery as we were so used to the smel of vomit.

Hope someone comes along with and answer for you.

DS had a gastrostomy a fundoplication was not possible due to the size of his stomach (too small) Vomiting was horrendous and big weight loss.
He then had a jejunal tube inserted problem solved.

Doesnt a J-tube require very special feeds? I've been trying to get the paediatrician on the phone but he is very elusive!

No I don't think so, DD is gastrostomy fed and has Peptisorb, DS was having this also for 2 years through jej but is now on Servimed, The only downside he needs to be fed 22hrs/day. Its fine for him as he is not mobile but have seen more mobile kids using a backpack.
Goodluck

Also forgot to say jej feeding can cause "dumping syndrome" but we just use larger pads Grin

Before you go for a fundo have you tried or considered feeding blended diet? It's simply food blended and syringed in. Because its a relatively thick mixture it sits in the stomach more and vomiting is less likely than with formula. It's not been a complete cure but after vomiting almost every feed we have less and less vomiting as well as a healthy, well fed and happier child.

We've done the blended diet in the past sneezecake but she is now ketogenic so I havent been able to work out a ketogenic blend given each mouthful has to be a 3.5 to 1 ratio and each meal X number of calories. I did ask on the blended diet yahoo group but no-one had done a keto blend and of course you dont get any help from your dietician!
