Access arrangements for tests

Just received an amended statement after our annual review. I made it quite clear to them that the statement needed to be quantified and specified which they have nowadded some detail, mainly what is on the iep. In part 3 They have put 'consideration should be given to allowing dd extra time, access to a reader and a scribe within english exams.
Does anyone know if this means it will purely be for English tests and not for other subjects. Last EP report stated she needed these, also rest breaks. Dd now in yr 8 and had problems last year getting school to allow arrangement. Should I send this back asking it to state in all subjects?

Pretty sure it will also be for all other subjects. I think that for English GCSE, you only get a reader for the writing exam and only get a scribe for the reading exam. Have a word with the school SENCO who should be able to tell you.

Thanks. Don't want to ask Senco as I am fed up of being told incorrect information. Has any one got any experience on this. Thanks

This is probably overload for what you need now but will be helpful in future years. Be aware it will change every year.

Thanks for that, had a look through but can't see the definition of what is classed as English exams, is it all exams?

Even if it wasn't written into the statement, school should assess students for access arrangements at some time in Yr9 or Yr10. They will only get the one assessment and it will apply to all exams (apart from the reading and writing parts of English as that's what is being assessed). I think:)

If she has a statement school will assess what access arrangements she needs for external exams. However they will have to show that these are in accordance with her normal ways of working. So if she needs a scribe or rest break etc they should be put in place for all tests from now on.
I would think that a normal reading of 'English tests' would be only English as a subject but presumably she needs this for all tests. I would try and get all subjects specified in part 3 along with all the types of adaptations she needs and then there will be no room for doubt. It will also make getting the adjustments she needs for GCSEs easier.
The exams officer at school may be able to give you more accurate information than the SENCO as part of their job is making adjustments for external exams
