just as i sat reading 'lost at school' ( great book that poltergoose recommended for me ) the school rang to say that ds2 was causing a problem. according to them there was a problem in ict , ds2 wouldnt do any work (again) and had ended up saying some rude stuff like how it was all crap etc . He was told to leave the classroom , i think to go to the isolation room which in itself is a major problem for ds2 as he hates to be in that room away from everyone else . so , he kicked off even more and said he would be walking around the corridors . apparently he pushed past the teacher ( he says it was an accident) and because he has now got physical there will be a consequence . when the deputy head phoned he said ds2 was currently walking around the school corridors in an agitated state.
i dont know whats going to happen . there has been a problem in this lesson for a while . he hates the teacher , ds2 has it in his head that she cant teach and hes give up. the teacher tried giving him detention last week but he still woudsnt do the work . it was unfortunate as he had been at home all that morning refusing school , he said he wanted to do the right thing and go to school eventually which was an improvement but then he got a detention which served no purpose .
i dont know where we go from here ,ds2 is 14 now and has year 10 and 11 left . whatever the consequence is for today i doubt it will teach him how to react differently next time .
feeling Sad

Hi Polter, ive read the first 2 chapters so far and its an eye opener . The case study part that i read last night was almost identical to yesterdays situation .
Ds2 has gone into school today but i fear the worst. He is expecting that they are going to send him to the isolation room as punishment and he is adamant he will not go .
He clearly has a problem with doing the work in ict and of interacting with this teacher and of course handling his frustrations . I think i will be telling the school this is what needs to be worked on rather than shoving him off to a grey lonely room. Im not sure HOW it should be worked on though ?

i will be giving them a copy of the book when ive read it myself .
I have thought and thought about what to do and drawn a blank . we had a meeting last week with school which wasnt very productive . i suggested dropping the most problematic lessons from his timetable , although i dont know if he would then want to drop everything if he knows it can be done . SEN lady said she would speak to someone higher up about that suggestion but didnt seem at all keen.
i discussed moving schools with ds2 but we both agreed that the problem would likely be the same and there arent many options for schools around here . I am in England , dont really know much about statements . i am thinking he should have an iep ?

the only silver lining yesterday was that ds2 didnt have a massive meltdown and take it all out on me when he got home which is what has happened in the past. maybe he is feeling more like i am on his side .
thanks for replying , can you just now move in super nanny style Grin
