Dyspraxia/SPD and tummy troubles

Hi, my 3YO daughter has sensory processing and motor skills problems. She has complained on and off about having stomach ache over the past couple of years and I have viewed it as a symptom of anxiety, as she gets several associated physical symptoms when anxious. She is now complaining of the stomach ache more and more (including after pretty much every meal), becoming more distressed and at times not eating because she says her tummy hurts.
The GP was not much help and agreed that in the absence of other symptoms it was probably anxiety linked.
DD is very tactile defensive and has an extremely limited diet (no veg, couple of types of fruit, no meat, no protein other than dairy), though she is constantly hungry and seems to crave certain foods. Chewy toys and ice lollies have helped a bit with this, as has reducing refined sugars and white wheat based products. GP thought that the restricted diet alone was unlikely to cause recurring tummy aches.
This might seem a bit random but I can't help but feel that the stomach problems are linked somehow to dyspraxia / SPD, not just as a symptom of anxiety, and wondered if anyone else had found this? I have tried to research it a bit and can only find suggested links between ASD and wheat/dairy intolerance. My daughter does eat a huge amount of wheat and dairy, but so far not showing signs of ASD.
Any advice very much appreciated.

Is she constipated?

My DS has SPD & anxiety and often has stomach aches and constipation. I assume it's a combination of restricted diet, anxiety generally, and sensory issues with not liking the feel of doing a poo.

Not sure how much I can help but I have a DS (10) with ADHD and ASD. He eats a similar diet to your DD and he's had stomach pains particularly on his left side since he was old enough to tell us about it. I'm convinced that the lack of fruit and veg have made him constipated or his bowels sluggish at least.
He has been through all the testing and they can find nothing wrong with him.
Over the last year we have worked very hard to increase the protein, fruit and veg in his diet. On a good day he will now eat a little chicken, a carrot or a smoothie. We also dramatically cut down on his carbs - much less pasta and bread. It has made a genuine difference to his stomach pains, they have all but disappeared.
He now reaches for a carrot when he gets pains because he knows he needs something to help his bowels get moving.
I'm not sure there is a proven link between ASD and wheat intolerances. I was under the impression that the research had been discredited ( I may be completely wrong here though).

Thank you very much for your responses.
She is not constipated, but her lower abdomen does often feel quite hard. I guess maybe I'm looking for an answer when there isn't really one, other than the restricted diet and anxiety. It's hard to see her struggling so much with life, then being in pain too.
Very interesting what you say about cutting down carbs and trying to increase fruit/veg and protein. Think I will try harder with this too, though there's only so many babybels, mini fromage frais and strawberries I can get into her in one day.
Thanks again.

I feel your pain mrsdoodle I am beyond despair with my sons eating habits. We want our children to eat healthily and when they are controlling about their food it's so hard.
