How much would you expect school to follow recommendations in EP's report?

DS has just started Reception, he has no dx but is on the waiting list for ADOS and most likely has Aspergers.

He was assessed by an Ed Psych in his final term at Nursery at the same school but the SENCO has basically ignored all of the recommendations in the report.

How much is the school supposed to follow what the report says? DS is really struggling & I'm wondering how much I can use the EP report to push for proper support.

The school should have had a copy of the Ed Pysch report that was obtained during his time at nursery - but it's a good idea to check with the SENCO that the report has been received by school.

That's also a good way to start a discussion with the SENCo about the recommendations in the report and whether they are being implemented. If not - why not?

School should obviously be following the Ed Pysch recommendations. If they are not or iof they tell you they don't have enough moeny to do so and other such nonsense then you need to think about applying directly to the LA yourself for an assessment that may lead to a statement.

Thanks - I'm sure the Senco has a copy of the report but your suggestion is a good way to approach it without starting off too bolshy.

Especially as we've just ben told by a teacher that she doesn't have time to read all her pupil's reports.

You may find that's the case - they just have not read it.

The school has a general duty to meet sn, therefore on the face of it is in breach of that duty if if fails to follow the EP's advice unless it can produce a very good reason for not doing so.
