Do I need a dx?

Hi. My dd2 is asd. But we have had suspicions for a long time that dd1(8) is also on the spectrum. Less obvious than dd2, and less detrimental to her education, but still there.

Question is, do I try and get her a dx? I know we will get a lot of "you're just seeing things because of dd2" even though we were seeing a lot of them before dd2 was dx.

Thanks polter
It's because it's so subtle compared the dd2, that I keep doubting myself. But there's so many things in her behaviours that just isn't NT iykwim.
And the high anxiety that we're already struggling to get school to acknowledge.
Will try and see GP this week.

Many girls with undiagnosed Asd/As start to fall apart when they move to secondary. At primary they can be easily accomodated because even if they are quirky they generally dont cause huge problems in class. Sometimes girls can become really nasty as they start to apporoach puberty and any girl who cant or wont fit it can have a hard time.

As a parent of 2 Asd and one NT girls I have had lots of experience!

I would recommend getting your Dd assessed, you have nothing to lose but could save her a lot of trauma later.

Good luck Smile
