I told myself that I wasn't going to get in a tiz about this but I have.

We've seen child pyschs, ed pyschs, an autism assessment team along with gps, senco's etc.. they've lead to this appt tomorrow.

The school seem to be under the impression that this person has the 'power' to give us an official dx, is this really the case? The school have done a letter for him (he also has our old notes) which basically outlines their concerns (lack of imaginative play, shuts down all forms of comms when frustrated or gets aggressive, misunderstand situations etc).

I've started to get a bit worried. What can I expect from our first visit? please!

Not sure I can be much help honey, but dd has a wonderful developmental paed, whome we see 2 x a year - this was after dd's dx though
They will be able to guage where your ds is on the NT development line and determine where his problems lie ie: in which developmental area. The this could fingers crossed lead to a more focussed approach to your ds's support.

most likely s/he will identify areas of concern and get specialists into further isolate specific problems.
Good luck btw, they do tend to be very thorough appointements
Let me know xx

I think the system tends to vary but it was a Dev Paed who gave the official dx for ds1 and ds2.

You'll probably find yourself answering a lot of the same questions again about development and behaviour. The Paed will probably use your answers and all the official reports you've had done to decide whether or not your ds needs a dx. Hopefully he/she will also tell you what kind of intervention your ds would need and contact the relevant people for you.

Good luck.
